Treatment Philosophy

Dr. Catherine Oden Fulton continuously studies dentistry, focusing on her specialty field of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, in order to provide excellent care. She believes that dentofacial aesthetics and occlusion are important components of all of her cases. Orthodontics can plays an important role in achieving optimal healthy, beautiful smiles and faces.

Dr. Fulton believes in early intervention. This can save a child’s teeth and help develop a harmonious face by reducing the need for extractions and/or maxillofacial surgeries when the child is older. For adults, a team approach is critical with the patient's general dentist serving as quarterback.

Dr. Fulton regularly attends courses in her field where she can learn from the best. For example, she has gained insight into developing arches and using D-gainers from Dr. Dwight Damon. For developing balanced faces, she studied with Dr. Terry Dischinger, learning the nuances of the Herbst appliance. Regarding occlusion, she has attended courses at both the Dawson Academy and the Pankey Institute.

Dr. Fulton is committed to being a lifelong learner, or as Dr. Pankey would say, a “perennial sophomore”. Her dedication to continuous professional improvement is a hallmark of her treatment philosophy and her orthodontic practice.
